David A. Hillock David A. Hillock, President Transit Associates, retired from the Chicago Transit Authority, as the Vice President of Bus Operations. David established Transit Associates in 1998 as a founding executive consultant. He has a Doctorate in Administration and among past positions served as a Department Commissioner of the City of Chicago. David is a business owner with a comprehensive background in successfully managing complex operations. His strengths include proficient communicator with levels of corporate and public sector management, public officials, business and union leadership. His role as a facilitator is well known in the industry as his background in providing strategic recommendations, industry research and corporate advice.
Terry Bernero Terry Bernero retired from the Chicago Transit Authority retired as the Senior Quality Engineer/Electrical, Technical Services. He became a partner with Transit Associates in 2001. Terry has culminated 27 years of rail transit experience from which he brings valuable knowledge on managing projects that include electronics repair, warranty administration, warranty service for sub-systems, second-source parts sales as well as evaluation and test of new systems on other rail transit related projects.
Thomas J. Kohler Thomas J. Kohler retired from the Chicago Transit Authority as the General Manager of Bus Engineering, Technical Services & Quality Control in 2007. Tom brings 27 plus years of valuable transit knowledge and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Illinois Institute of Technology. Tom has experience in Bus, Rail, Facilities and Revenue Collection which include engineering, development and management of complex projects, budget and capital funding experience as well as working knowledge of FTA maintenance regulations and compliance.
Rich Tupek Rich Tupek retired from Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in 2001 as the Assistant Director Diesel Engine Design. Rich has 25 years of experience in the rail heavy haul freight industry while working with EMD. Rich brings valuable knowledge in all aspects of diesel engine design and locomotive operation and manufacturing. Rich's specialties include diesel fuel injection, engine performance, and engine emissions. Rich's last accomplishment at EMD was the design, manufacture, and introduction of the 6000 HP diesel locomotive engine. Rich's other skills include mechanical engineering, program management, budget management, and people management. Rich has a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Madison, Wisconsin and another Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
James Gebis James Gebis retired from CTA in 2008. Jim has over 37 years of transit experience having worked in many areas of transit including bus and rail operations, maintenance and engineering. The majority of his career has been focused on bus engineering and maintenance at Chicago Transit Authority. He has served on many committees including chairing the APTA Standard Bus Procurement Guidelines for low floor buses. Jim was project manager on large bus procurements, bus rehab and equipment design modifications and is familiar with all aspects of bus inspection and design. Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
